Level 5 Certificate in Effective Coaching and Mentoring
Learn how to transform people performance within your teams and organisation, through our tried and tested ILM Level 5 qualification programme.
Aimed at those wishing to be impactful internal coaches or mentors, this programme will equip you with the skills needed to undertake effective coaching interventions. The tools and techniques shared by our experienced facilitators have been purposefully designed for best practice in the workplace and evidence of your successes will form your qualification portfolio. Completion will provide you with an internationally recognised coaching qualification, equivalent to a foundation level degree, supported throughout your journey by our customer care team (all of whom have undertaken this programme themselves!).
Who is the ILM Level 5 for?
Our ILM Level 5 Certificate in Effective Coaching and Mentoring is aimed at Managers or HR/L&D professionals who wish to become an internal workplace coach or mentor and be part of the organisations internal coaching pool. We have tailored the delivery of this programmes to provide them to right level of confidence and competence to ensure safe and effective practice within the workplace.
This would also be a good introductory qualification for someone considering a career as an external coach.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

What do I need to do and how long does it take?
To gain the ILM Level 5 qualification, you will need to compile a portfolio of evidence throughout the programme, which consists of:
- Records of a minimum 24 hours workplace coaching or mentoring
- 3 written assignments, focused around your understanding of coaching and application and review of your practice
- 2 book reviews of our recommended reads
- Evidence of your own learning and development, including tutorial notes, supervision notes and reflections
The journey from the start of the programme, through to completing the qualification, usually takes 12-15 months.
