Overview

Our Coaching Culture Toolkit is a series of resources designed to support you through the journey of making coaching work in your organisation. Through our extensive experience and understanding coaching best practice, we have identified five key stages to create, execute, manage and evaluate workplace coaching.

By working through these five stages, you will gain a greater understanding and practical knowledge of how best to get coaching to work in your organisation.

Structure

At each of these stages you will be provided with handouts, exercises, coaching guides and other resources which guide you through the journey. Each resource works towards completing the step you are working on, which are:

1) Coaching Purpose, Objectives and Business Priorities

The first thing you will need to think about when creating a coaching strategy is to understand the purpose for coaching in your organisation, how it will support the business priorities and what outcomes you would like to see as a result of coaching.

2) Understanding the Context and Current Situation in Your Organisation

In order to know how to realise your coaching objectives, you will need to understand what coaching, if any, is currently in place. You will need to identify those factors that will help you succeed and those that will hold you back and also the current attitude towards coaching in your organisation.

Identifying the current position and view of coaching in your organisation will allow you to focus your efforts where necessary and engage effectively with your stakeholders.

3) Developing a Coaching Strategy

You have aligned coaching to your organisation’s priorities, and you have a clear understanding about how coaching can be or is currently being used within your organisation. You understand the perceptions that people hold on coaching and who has the most power and influence to support coaching in your organisation.

You have presented a business case have sign off and are now ready to develop a coaching strategy outlining the detailed resources you will need and confirming how you will need to structure and organise yourself by developing clear roles and responsibilities, standards and codes of practice and the systems and processes that will support you in implementing your coaching strategy.

4) Executing, Communicating and Managing a Coaching Strategy

You have your coaching strategy and infrastructure in place and are now ready to implement your plan. This part of the toolkit provides guidance, tools and templates for the three key stages of implementation: executing, communicating and managing a coaching strategy.

5) Evaluating and Adapting a Coaching Strategy

Evaluating the impact of your coaching will support the continuous development of your coaching strategy and provide you with the evidence you need to demonstrate its success.

Evaluating coaching can be difficult when there are a number of key stakeholders to consider. This is because evaluating coaching is more than just asking the Coachee if the coaching objectives were achieved.
